Sugar Loaf Mountain includes a two-stage aerial tram that leads to the top of the mountain. It is located on a peninsula that stretches across the Atlantic Ocean. It has stunning views of the surrounding beaches, mountains, and forests. Especially impressive are the views at sunset.

Have you heard of Urca? Urca is the smallest neighbourhood in Rio de Janeiro. It is one of the safest and richest neighbourhood, characterised by traditional buildings and designed houses from the 1920s to the 1940s. Urca has only 6 small squares, 16 streets, and the most glamorous casino in Brazil. The casino attracts celebrities such as Carmen Miranda and Roberto Carlos.

Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden offers a huge collection of plants from Brazil and around the world.Some of the trees are dating back 200 years. You should visit the “Bromeliads”, the “Orchidarium” – a greenhouse with over 2000 species of orchids – and the “Sensory Plants”, which are the main attractions of the garden. This is a place that takes time to explore the thousands of different plants.

The Garden is surrounded by mountains that include the Tijuca Forest, the largest forest in an urban area. The forest is located in the heart of Rio de Janeiro and is connected to the National Park, a Brazilian conservation unit for the protection of the nature of the Atlantic Forest Biosphere. The park covers an area of 3,200 hectares and has species of fauna and flora that can only be found here. Here you will find also the largest waterfall in the city and many hiking options.
